About Us

'Diversions' is a parent and young person led team with first hand experience of living with a stoma or caring for someone with a bladder or bowel diversion / dysfunction.  Between us we have managed life with a Colostomy, Ileostomy, ACE, Mitrofanoff, self-catheterisation and urinary and faecal incontinence.  In addition we have other members of the group living with a variety of urinary diversions including Urostomies, Ureterostomies and Supra-Pubic Catheters.

Our group wouldn't be what it is today if it wasn't for all the families who attend.  We have many parent volunteers, individual's and young people who support us.  Ways in which they do that include representing Diversions at various stoma care open days, offering IT support such as developing our website and communications, fundraising and identifying potential funding grants and generally being there for new families who just want someone to chat to who is in a similar situation to themselves.

We are also supported by healthcare professionals including stoma care nurses and local paediatricians who regularly attend the events where possible.  We provide links to other support groups as well as enabling families to access up to date, samples and information through our stoma care exhibition, on site at most of our events.
