Daytrippers was founded in 2003 to help children with disabilities, life limiting and terminal illnesses enjoy amazing experiences that otherwise might not be available to them.
We do this by providing funding for group daytrips (minimum of eight children with disabilities) and organising Daytrippers own larger scale events. To date Daytrippers has helped over 15,000 children enjoy some fantastic trips, including days to theme parks, the seaside, museums, theatres, wildlife parks as well as more unusual experiences such as specially organised scenic flights. In addition to the daytrips we have organised various unique events such as film premieres, Halloween parties and football tournaments.
Our daytrips and events are not only about kids having some fun they are much more than that. They allow the children to experience new and exciting environments while integrating as much as possible. We know from experience that this helps improve their confidence and can also have a dramatic effect on their conditions.
We work closely with other charities, schools, hospices, support groups and local authorities across the UK. Please feel free to contact us to discuss any trip that you have in mind as we are always happy to assist or make any suggestions.

My name is Maria Hanson and I set up my charity in July 2006.

As a disabled woman, I know only too well how treats can become the bottom of a priority list. My very close cousin Delia and I often spoke about this, and how we would like to set up our own charity, offering to provide treats and special moments where time is precious.

Sadly, Delia died in 2005 from cancer before we could achieve our dreams together. I carry her in my heart and with the help of my daughters, family, friends and supporters, me&dee is now arranging special moments to create lasting memories all over the UK - with the support from Paul meaning we have moved from around fifteen a year to fifteen a month.

"My lovely younger sister Shanie, aged 53, passed away peacefully after a long illness so courageously born on 7th August 2009. At peace and without pain, but so very sadly missed by all who loved and knew her".
